Nagarkot is a popular hill station in central Nepal, at the rim of the Kathmandu valley located 28km east from Kathmandu international airport with an altitude of 2195m .It is a nearest place form city to see Himalayan ranges with a mesmerizing view of sunrise and sunset .A wide panoramic view of eight Himalaya ranges including Annapurna range(8010m), Manslu range(8156m),Ganesh himal range(74222m), Langtang range(7205m), Jugal range, Rolwaling range, Everest range known as Mahalangur range(8850m) and Numbur rang(6958m) can be seen clearly with spectacular sunrise views.
The best time to see these majestic snow-covered peaks are in the mountains where all these peaks glow with the rays of sunshine gently spraying towards these peaks. The color of these peaks changes from blue to grey into orange which seems like fire in ice. It's like sun rays painting the canvas in the sky with magical spectacle of orange ball of fire rising above the peaks with the surreal glow which will captivate everyone's heart and soul. The best time for the visit is from October to march .It is said that sky is seen clear during those days. The sight is most delightful in summer when the nature brightens with wonderful lights and colors.
To view sunrise or sunset we should reach there thirty minute before the time for rise or set. Sunrise January (6.50AM) to March (6:00AM) April (5:50AM) to June (5:15AM) July (5:15AM) to September (5:50AM) October (6:00AM) to December (6:50AM). Sunset-January (5:25PM) to March (6:15PM) April (6:25PM) to June (7:00) July (7:00PM) to September (6:00PM) October (5:45PM) to December (5: PM).
So near yet so far from heat, dust, smoke and city's hustle-bustle, Nagarkot is the fascinating spot for refreshment. Not only for sunrise or sun set, short hiking (including jungle walks), pony riding, bird watching could be new interest to the adventure-seekers. Here, the forests are covered with pine trees giving the place a mysterious glow. Threw surrounding scrubland is laced with trails and home to many butterflies. To the west the ancient, pagoda style Changunarayan temple which showcase the glory of Nepal’s architects and artisan dedicated to lord Vishnu and a Hindu pilgrimage site. If temples of the valley takes you deeper, the Himalayas of Nepal will take u higher.
